On September 21, 2024, the Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. came together for a powerful day of service and solidarity at the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event. Held at the Connection Community Church in Middletown Delaware, the MAC Delta Angels team rallied in full force for the 8th year to raise awareness and funds to support the fight against cancer. From 3pm to 9pm, the day was energy-filled, fellowship-focused, and characterized by a shared commitment to making a notable impact in the lives of those affected by cancer.
Approximately thirty-five sorors from the Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter participated by walking, jogging, or running on the track adorned with our signature angel wings and red tutus. Our information booth not only served as a gathering space for fellowship to honor chapter cancer survivors but also served as a space to distribute information regarding our upcoming cancer-related program, Mocktails and Mammograms. We proudly provided handouts to participants to ensure that our community is informed and equipped with resources for prevention and early detection.
A key highlight of the event was our team, MAC Delta Angels, winning second place for raising over $10,000 for cancer research and care! This incredible achievement was made possible under the leadership of our Relay for Life committee chairs, both cancer survivors, whose stories of resilience inspired us all. Their dedication, along with the hard work of our chapter, reflects our continued commitment to service and advocacy in line with the mission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Lastly, we enjoyed meaningful fellowship and strengthened the bonds of sisterhood with neighboring Alumnae Chapters from Dover and Wilmington. The day ended on a powerful note with a collective prayer for survivors, caregivers and for those currently battling cancer facilitated by our Chaplains Council, which sent us off with a renewed sense of purpose and unity.
The MAC Delta Angels are committed to the fight against cancer, inspired by our survivors, our sorors, and our shared dedication to service.
Absolutely Phenomenal!!! So proud of our Cancer Awareness programming, our MAC Delta Angels and our team contribution. Shout out to ALL of our Survivors. ❤️
