Political Awareness and Involvement

DST Crest.png

Social Action - The founding members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. were on the front line of many social issues that affected our country. The members of Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter continue the tradition via political forums, voter registration drives, "Meet the Candidate Nights," Delta Days in the Nation's/State Capital, Delta Days in the United Nations, and domestic violence awareness; with additional focus on the mandatory minimum sentencing for nonviolent offenders, and the monitoring of legislative bills.

Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital and Delta Days in the State Capital allows members from our organization to actively engage with their elected representatives on a wide variety of issues ranging from educational funding to economic concerns.  Our members are also encouraged to attend local school board, city and county meetings.

The “Get Out to Vote” program sponsors voter registration drives and non-partisan voter education forums in the Middletown, Odessa, Townsend, and Delaware City communities.
