Ethel Cuff Black Scholarship Information & Application

Use the below checklist as a guide to ensure a complete application packet to be considered for the scholarship award. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications must be completed in one sitting.

A completed application includes:

• Signed Application Form
• Parent/Guardian’s signature(s)
• Signed Media Release and Photography forms
• An OFFICIAL high school transcript (sent from high school counselor to macscholarship.dstmiddletownde@gmail.com)
• Two-page essay highlighting your community service, leadership activities, and college and career goals

•(3) letters of recommendation on professional letterhead from any of the following individuals:
-Activity/Club Advisor
- Coach
-Community Leader
-Employer
-High School Administrator
-High School Counselor
-High School Teacher
-Minister
-Organizational Sponsor
-Volunteer Coordinator

Recommendations from family members will not be accepted. Letters of recommendations must include the following information:

• the length of time they have known you
• A description of your personal qualities...
• A description of qualities that suggest you have what it takes to persevere and succeed in college.

Completed application packets must be received by March 13, 2025.

Scholarships are available to graduating African American high school seniors in the service areas of the Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter, which are: Middletown, Odessa, Townsend, Clayton, Port Penn, St. Georges, and Delaware City.

The Ethel Cuff Black Scholarship for books and materials, have an average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
